Cultural Diversity Consultation and Training Programs-- Partial List of Organizations Served

ICP has a successful track record providing services to clients addressing a variety of workplace and service delivery issues. Below is a sampling of recent training and consulting work:

Education and Youth Focus

Capital Area Superintendents’ Institute: annual session for area school district superintendents and other senior administrators.

Capital Area Intermediate Unit Summer Workshops (2) for approximately 40 teachers on Diversity Issues in Education and Conflict Resolution for Educators.

Lebanon-Lancaster Intermediate Unit Conference for Nonpublic Schools: keynote on "Educating for Success in a Global Community: Opportunities and Challenges" for approximately 150 teachers and administrators from private and parochial schools; 2 workshops for approximately 50 teachers on curriculum materials for diversity education and anti-bias education.

Carlisle Youth Charter Program (approximately 60 high school students): program on organized hate groups with Floyd Cochran (ex-Aryan Nations activist).

Lancaster Country Day School: trained adult facilitators for diversity program for 120 youth participating in a weekend leadership program.

Mt. Union "From Attitude to Action": train the trainer program for adult facilitators for an after-school conflict resolution program for 25 middle school youth (8 sessions).

Central York School District "Parenting for Prejudice-Free Kids": 2 part series for approximately 40 parents.

East Pennsboro School District: anti-bullying program workshop for all middle school teachers; "Helping your Kids Handle Conflict" workshop series for approximately 80 parents.

Northern York School District: cultural diversity and conflict resolution workshop series for 25 teachers and administrators.

Carlisle Area School District: cultural diversity workshop for 20 participants.

Mechanicsburg School District: cultural diversity workshop for 90 participants.

Governor's 2001 Institute for Arts Educators, Gannon University: 4-day workshop training 15 teachers in "Historical and Cultural Context in the Arts" incorporating ICP's "What's Your Name?" curriculum (Using diverse musical traditions to infuse diversity awareness across multiple subject areas) as well as ICP's web-based resources.

Susquehanna University: workshop for approximately 200 minority high school students on opportunities in higher education.

Pennsylvania Association for College Admissions Counseling: workshop on campus-community outreach to recruit minority students for higher education, for approximately 60 "minority outreach counselors."

Susquehanna Township High School START (Students To Advance Racial Togetherness) mentor student leaders of this newly formed student activity group (reaches approximately 50 students directly and the high school community indirectly).

Central York School District: Defusing and Resolving Conflicts in Secondary SchoolsBtraining for 49 middle and high school teachers.

Health and Human Services Focus

The Pennsylvania Council of Children, Youth and Family Services: Workshops at the annual conference of agency executives and program directors on diversity issues for agency and program management.

Milton Hershey Medical Center: workshop for regional network of 20 hospital chaplains on religious diversity and cultural values in health care delivery.

Hamilton Health Center (Capital Region Health Systems): Needs Assessment re. people living with HIV/AIDS among communities of color, Dauphin County, which led to a successful application for federal funds to provide services to this population.

Dauphin County MH/MR Case Management Unit: worked on diversity issues and conflict resolution with Executive Team over 4 sessions.

Family and Children's Services (Harrisburg) : workshop on diversity issues for approximately 20 clinical staff.

Community Action Agencies of Southeastern PA: cultural competency training session for approximately 25 staff from several agencies.

Community Action Association of PA: workshops on cultural competent service delivery and workplace diversity issues for approximately 35 staff from agencies around the state.

Refugee Services Coalition of Central PA: workshop on "managing 1st impressions" to help refugees make effective transition to American work environment for approximately 25 case managers from multiple agencies.

Harris County Hospital District, Houston, Texas. Cultural Competency in Health Care Delivery: 2 workshops for approximately 120 hospital workers.

Southwestern Pennsylvania Area Agency on Aging: Cultural Diversity Awareness and Effective Delivery of Services: training for 65 social services delivery supervisors and staff.

Catholic Charities:"Serving Diverse Clients/Navigating Cultural Differences" Day-long workshop for 90 social services professional staff, with morning panel representing diverse racial, ethnic, religious, and sexual orientation perspectives.

Equity for Gays and Lesbians Fund: Needs Assessment re. gay and lesbian community of central Pennsylvania, which led to the creation of a funding program.

Physicians for Women's Health: Cultural Diversity session for full staff, approximately 40 people.

Schuylkill County Community Action: Cultural Diversity session on workplace and service delivery issues for full staff, approximately 35 people.

Other clients served: Tressler Lutheran Services, Jewish Family Services of Harrisburg, PA Association of Area Agencies on Aging, Franklin County Human Services, Community Action of Harrisburg, International Assn. of Psychosocial Rehabilitation Services, Pinnacle Health, Capital Region Health Futures, PA Health Care Communicators, Keystone Assn. of Healthcare Access Managers.

Law Enforcement Focus

Pennsylvania Chiefs of Police Association: Facilitator for multiple sessions with police officers and community members focusing on police-minority community relations in Pottstown, State College, West Chester, Bloomsburg, Lebanon, Steelton and Lancaster County.

Franklin and Marshall College, Campus Security: diversity workshop for campus security officers.

PA Deputy Sheriffs: Design diversity training curriculum for 2003-2005 training cycle to reach approximately 1,700 deputy sheriffs throughout the state.

Local/State Government Focus

PA Turnpike Commission: workplace diversity and conflict resolution sessions for approx. 2,200 employees.

PA Turnpike Commission -- Teamwork Initiative: multiple sessions with key management employees that address communication, problem solving, conflict resolution, teamwork impacting the entire workforce.

US Postal Service: series of workshops on emotional intelligence and managing diversity for approximately 80 managers from the central PA region (planned for 2003).

Municipal Administrators -- Cultural Diversity workshop at annual conference held at Shippensburg University.

American Folklife Center, Library of Congress: consultation and facilitation for retreat of the Board of Trustees re. desired outcomes and governance polices.

South Carolina Arts Commission: consultation for project leader and staff training session (45 staff) for Building Participation in the Arts program; public seminar on diversity issues in "building participation in the arts" for approximately 80 board and staff members of arts organizations across South Carolina.

Other clients served: State Museum of Pennsylvania, PA Dept. of Health, Institute for Municipal Secretaries, Clerks and Administrators @ Shippensburg University.

Community Focus

Carlisle Unity Steering Committee: facilitated series of sessions to focus on desired outcomes and appropriate strategies.

Carlisle Unity Steering Committee Faith Community Outreach: facilitated session with faith-based organization leaders.

Women's Legislative Exchange: workshop on Youth Diversity issues featuring the One Day program and ICP's work with EGAL and Common Roads, for approximately 25 participants.

Carlisle OIC: Cultural Diversity Workshop for Board and Staff.

Wallace Global Fund: consultation and facilitation work with board members re. defining desired outcomes and governance policies.

AARP, State Association, KY. Two basic sessions and one advanced session on oral history documentation as part of the national Veteran's History Project.

2003 Pennsylvania Conference of Seventh-Day Adventist: Cultural sensitivity seminar focusing on cultural diversity curriculum and changing student demographics for approximately 30 K-10 grade school teachers from across Pennsylvania.

Other clients served: Bloomsburg Alcohol Abuse Initiative, Bloomsburg Community Dispute Resolution Project, PA Holocaust Education Task Force, The Liberty Foundation, Greater Harrisburg YWCA, Equity for Gays and Lesbians, Hispanic Council of Erie, Jewish Women's Archive (Boston), New England Foundation for the Arts (Building Communities through Culture program).

Corporate Focus

Hershey Entertainment and Resorts, Inc.: Consultation work to identify business value for corporate diversity initiatives.

Sunoco: Consultation provided to design corporate diversity training for newly hired managers.

MacNeil/Lehrer Productions: Consultation work on By the People: America in the World--national and local efforts by public and commercial broadcasters, civic organizations, and community groups to broaden the nation's dialogue about the world after Sept. 11.

Other clients served: Genesis Eldercare, The Patriot-News.
