Rhymes and Rhythms from Pennsylvania's Neighborhoods

Various Artists

This recording is dedicated to Gaby Muzela (1960-1994) whose spirit and music guided this project and continues to inspire our work.

The Selections

What's Your Name? is a recording of 22 traditional dance tunes, songs and instrumentals from 11 ethnic communities throughout Pennsylvania. The recording includes 16 pages of liner notes, including information about the artists and the music, as well as verbal transcriptions and translations of the songs.

The recording, available in both CD and cassette tape formats, serves as a companion to the What's Your Name study guide, a 126-page instructional resource designed for grades K-12. The study guide features 15 standards-based lessons plans that use music to explore topics in science, social studies, language and the arts.
