A talented oud and bauzouki player, Stan's music will take
you on a musical odyssey of homeland in The Greek Isles. Joined
here by other exceptional musicians, they perform a wide range
of both traditional and popular songs with Greek, Turkish
and Middle Eastern influences.
This recording is a collection of musical pieces that demonstrate
the Smyrneic sound of the 1920's to 1950's and its Middle
Eastern influences. Many of the rebetika melodies are Stan's
own renditions of recordings from the 1930's. Others are as
he remembers them from his youth. Some are instrumental versions
of songs with varied lyrics.
Through this recording, Stan hopes to present a continuation
of the Smyrneic genre that he loves, as well as the more commonly
known Greek songs.
