Folk & Traditional
Arts in Pennsylvania
Welcome
to the Folk & Traditional Arts in Pennsylvania!
The purpose of this
section of our site is to help individuals and communities
better understand and value diversity by offering a content
rich resource that features the living
artistic traditions of ethnic, religious, linguistic, occupational,
and/or regional groups that make up the Commonwealth
of Pennsylvania.
We invite you to
browse through our Artists section
to learn about their personal stories, art forms, and to listen
to or view images of their work. Over the next few months
we will be adding new artist profiles to this site, including
profiles of artists that have received fellowship and apprenticeship
awards through our Folk
& Traditional Arts Program, developed in collaboration
with the Pennsylvania Council on the Arts.
Teachers and students
should review sample lesson plans from our Study
Guide to What's Your Name?, a CD sampler including recordings
of many of the artists currently featured on this site. If
you are interested in purchasing any of the recordings or
the Study Guide, be sure to check out our On
Tour Catalogue.
If you want to learn more about traditional
