ICP would like to thank three Pennsylvania teachers who took
time out from their busy teaching schedule to help create and
revise this study guide - Wynne Kinder (Elementary Math and
English teacher at Lancaster Country Day School), Carol Bower
(English teacher at Susquenita Middle School), and Kathy Dunn
(Music teacher at Susquehanna Township High School).
Folklore and education consultants Amy Davis and Jill Rossiter
worked patiently with ICP staff and the teachers to design
and write their creative lessons for this study guide. Rosemary
McAvoy, Pat Skiles and Tracy Telesha from RTM Associates handled
the layout and design with a playful thoughtfulness toward
the needs of teachers.
Special thanks goes to Paddy Bowman, the guru of folk arts
in education, for her overall guidance and insights. Our heartfelt
thanks go to all the musicians who appear on Whats
Your Name for their unique music which inspired these
lesson plans and continue to inspire our work.
Finally, we could not have produced the guide without the
financial support of the National Endowment for the Arts,
the Pennsylvania Council on the Arts and Mellon Bank.

We welcome feedback on the usefulness of this study guide
and on ways to improve it.
