Student Internships
Are you the type of person who...
- Wants to put an end to stereotyping, prejudice and discrimination?
- Enjoys learning about people of different backgrounds?
- Is interested in promoting positive inter-group relations
in your school or community?
The Institute for Cultural Partnerships announces a high
school and college level student internship program in memory
of Arnold J. Frankel.
The goals of the student internship program are to develop
youth leadership and promote positive inter-group relations.
These are paid internships which require an appropriate level
of commitment of time to this effort. College and graduate
level internships are offered on a semester basis or during
the summer. High school level internships are offered on an
after-school basis or can be coordinated with school-based
internship programs.
Students who are interested in working with our organization
should submit a letter indicating why they wish to intern
at ICP and what goals and skills they would like to pursue
through this internship. If you wish, you may submit a portfolio
reflecting your work and accomplishments along with your letter
of application.
Special consideration will be given to students who propose
a specific project or idea that will address diversity issues
in their own school or community. Possible internship ideas
might include starting a diversity club or teens against
prejudice group, conducting oral history interviews
of a community to increase awareness of people of diverse
backgrounds and their local contributions, or initiating an
inter-faith dialogue program.
All student applications must be accompanied by a letter
of recommendation from a teacher, professor, or community
leader, and for high school students, must also be accompanied
by a signed consent letter from a guidance counselor.
Applications are now being accepted for internships in 2002
and 2003. Questions and requests for applications should be
directed to Fredrika McKain, ICP President. Positions will be available according
to ICP's ability to accommodate the interns. This program
is supported by the Arnold J. Frankel Memorial Fund.
